Artist's statement

In 2019 I painted a chicken and haven’t put down my paintbrush since. For me, to paint is to communicate, to refresh, to experiment, to learn, to achieve, and sometimes it seems even to breathe.

As someone who loves new challenges, I have painted in a variety of styles. What is consistent is my preference for quirky composition, dramatic color interactions, and a fascination with edges.

My approach to each canvas is intuitive. I begin with an idea, or maybe a photograph. I go straight to paint on canvas, allowing each decision to inform the next, until I feel it is complete.

I show my work regionally in galleries and other venues. I enjoy holding an art class for seniors as well as leading some art events.

I paint where I live, In upper Saucon Township outside of Coopersburg, PA.

I have played other roles besides artist: I am first and foremost a mom, but have also been a writer, a singer, a marketing director, a customer service representative, a teacher, a francophile, a thrift and antique store junkie, a chicken keeper, and a dog lover.
