It’s been a long time since I wrote a blog. It’s not for lack of activity, or forward momentum, in my world of art. In fact, things there have been going swimmingly. I’m having problems that come with growth – such as how to keep track of what art is where, or when it is due, or how to prioritize when I have multiple opportunities to show at the same time, or multiple interested parties in the same painting at the same time!
I spend time thinking about pricing, and wanting to keep my prices low enough so that regular people can afford my art, but at the same time capitalizing on the increased sales and growing interest. I have to start thinking of it as a business and not just dabbling. I have to take it seriously.
The biggest problem continues to be time. There is not enough of it. I recruited Edi (my 17 year old son) to update my website. That is a huge help. Sam was my assistant at Art in the Park, in both carrying and selling art. I discovered he’s an excellent salesman and he’s definitely coming along to future events.
The rest of my life has its challenges...art is where I find my center. Here is a quick look at what’s coming up:
.Emmaus Public Library – Thank you to those who went out of their way to see the exhibit. As it is my first, it means a lot to me! If you haven’t seen it, you most likely won’t. It’s coming down tomorrow, November 3. The pieces that are sold will come home and be delivered to their owners. Some of the larger pieces will stay home too, but many will be moving directly to the next show.
Indian Valley Public Library – Located in Telford, PA, IVPL has a history of supporting the arts. Tomorrow afternoon a smaller show will be put in place here. It’s smaller only because the display area is smaller, necessitating more careful curation. If Telford is on your path, make it a point to stop by during the month of November to take a look.
Exhibit B Gallery – One of my entries was selected for their Winter Group Show, running November 11/18/2022 – 1/28/2023. The gallery is new for me and is located in Souderton, PA. I’m excited to gain exposure to a new audience and to expand my connections to a larger art community. There is an opening event at the Gallery on Friday, 11/18 from 5-9PM. I will post more about this later, but I welcome any friends who would like to meet me there. We can go out for a nice dinner afterwards. I’m really excited to see all the other work that will be included in the show as well.
Gallery840 – Located in center city Allentown, this was the first gallery that accepted my work, and I’m happy to continue the relationship. For the holiday market, you’ll find my art scarves here. These best-sellers offer a stylish look based on my original art, and at an affordable price. I have more scarf designs on order, too.
Who knows what next year will bring?
